Family owned companies are core to communities and the economy, but often fail as they are passed from one generation to another.  The small percentage that are successful run the business cooperatively and leverage the strengths of the family owners to drive business growth.  There is no place for under-performance, no need to tolerate free-loaders and no excuse for squabbling at work.  Being responsible family business owners is a choice.
